Headlight Restoration Guide

Cloudy headlights are a safety issue, not just a cosmetic one. This guide explains why lenses fail and what a lasting repair involves.

What every Cornwall driver should know

Practical guidance from the team that performs Headlight Restoration every weekend across Eastern Ontario.

Why lenses turn yellow

The factory UV coating degrades from sun, heat and road debris. Once it fails the plastic itself oxidizes, which is what creates the yellow, cloudy layer.

Why sealing is the critical step

Polishing alone removes the oxidation but leaves bare polycarbonate exposed. Without a UV sealant the lens can haze again within months.

Maintaining clarity

Wash lenses with the rest of the vehicle, avoid abrasive cleaners, and keep protection topped up during your regular detail visits.

Questions we hear most

How long does the restoration last?

With a proper UV sealant, expect a year or more depending on sun exposure. Untreated polishing hazes again quickly.

Can badly cracked lenses be fixed?

No. Internal cracking or damage inside the housing requires replacement, and we will tell you if that is the case.

How long does it take?

Most vehicles take about an hour for the pair.
